So mod stuff and everything is nice, but for me those are just additional features that are totally secondary after multiplayer experience. However, for a game to stay really alive over a long time it needs a sound community and a great multiplayer experience - which AoC on voobly has and had on IGZ - and which the HD team is still not able to provide after over two years. Those are features to attract new, campaign and casual players - which is totally fine since any game needs an influx of new players and hopefully some of those will stay and play more competitively. are fine, but those are not features that are important to players who enjoy the game for what it is. Additional mod opportunities, achievements etc. And don't just defend the stuff that the HD team is releasing because that's the client on which you started playing the game online.Įdit: One last thing. Then think about whether you still want to support a commercial release of a game that is in almost every way inferior to the client that has been worked on and improved by the community for years. Please just do yourself a favour and actually play on voobly. Well some of my comments are for sure, others are definitely not (e.g. In summary, HD is for players that love aoe and want to experience new things, but in the framework of the classic game they grew up with. Thankfully that is also on steam and you can do MP through it. Reducing population in each and in my opinion giving the game an earlier end that it should have.

An issue with age 3 was they made 2 expansions and split the community into 3 fragments. My favorite feature is the integrated lobby. It's not a guarantee they can make it happen but they are taking a look into it.ĩ. That is why they need to rebuild the game to make HD playable in MP.

The FPS was also locked at 20 and remember, no HD textures so less info to send accross the net. With the speed of machines and bandwidth back then it probably made sense to tie them together. The game has to stay in sync or else people with faster systems would have a major advantage. That's why if one person lags in either FPS or Internet wise everyone suffers. Remember in RTS it's imperative that everyone is moving at the same speed. There is talk about removing the tie between the FPS rate and Network traffic.
